Recommendation
Action Proposed:
Approve the material revision of the charter for Extera Public School No. 2 ("Charter School"), a Start-Up Independent charter school, to join Green Dot Public Schools, such that Green Dot Public Schools would govern, operate, and manage Extera Public School No. 2 along with Green Dot Public School's fourteen (14) other LAUSD-authorized charter schools. Extera Public School No. 2 specifically seeks to revise its charter governance structure and related charter elements and provisions.
Extera Public Schools, the California nonprofit public benefit corporation that holds the charter under the ultimate direction of the board of directors, seeks the proposed material revision to help ensure the charter school's fiscal stability and reduce operational costs as a member of a larger charter school network. Extera Public Schools operates one other LAUSD-authorized charter school, named Extera Public. Per the school's leadership, the organization plans to self-close Extera Public at the end of the 2025-2026 school year.
The recommendation for approval is based on the information set forth in the attached Staff Assessment and Recommendation Report.
