Recommendation
Action Proposed:
Approve the renewal petition for Valor Academy Middle (“Charter School”), a Start-Up Independent charter school, with benchmarks in the areas of academics (Math for English Learner, Latino, Socioeconomically Disadvantaged, and Students with Disabilities) located in Board District 6 and Region North, for a term of five (5) years, beginning July 1, 2027 until June 30, 2032, to serve up to 530 students in grades 5-8 in each year of the charter term. The school is requesting to decrease its current enrollment capacity from 600 students to 530 students to be more aligned to the occupancy capacity of their current site. The recommendation for approval is based on the information set forth in the attached Staff Assessment and Recommendation Report.

Valor Academy Middle is a 5-8 school currently serving 508 students on a private facility at 9034 Burnet Avenue, North Hills, CA, 91343 in Board District 6 and Region North. Valor Academy Middle was originally approved by the LAUSD Board of Education on April 14, 2009.
