Approve the renewal petition for Equitas Academy 6 (“Charter School”), a Start-Up Independent charter school, with a benchmark in the area of academic engagement (Chronic Absenteeism), located in Board District 5 and Region West, for a term of five (5) years, beginning July 1, 2027 until June 30, 2032, to serve up to 500 students in grades TK-4 in each year of the charter term. The recommendation for approval is based on the information set forth in the attached Staff Assessment and Recommendation Report.

Background:
Equitas Academy 6 is a TK-4 school currently serving 193 students on a private facility at 1612 W. Pico Boulevard, Los Angeles, CA, 90015 in Board District 5 and Region West. Equitas Academy 6 was originally approved by the LAUSD Board of Education on October 23, 2018. This is the charter school's first consideration for renewal. Pursuant to Education Code section 47607.4, all charter schools whose term expires on or between January 1, 2022, and June 30, 2025, inclusive, shall have their term extended by two years, and all charter schools whose term expires on or between January 1, 2024, and June 30, 2027, inclusive, shall have their term extended by one additional year. Thus, by operation of law, the charter term for Equitas Academy 6 expires June 30, 2027.
