(Request for Approval of California Education Policy Agenda) Recommends authorizing the Office of Governmental Relations (OGR), on behalf of Los Angeles Unified, to adopt the Policy Agenda as a multi-year strategic roadmap that will help inform the District’s short-term and longer-term advocacy objectives. This document will be shared with the Governor’s Administration, the State Superintendent of Public Instruction and the State Legislature. All priorities and proposals in the Policy Agenda align with and support the goals, strategies, and initiatives of the District’s 2026-30 Strategic Plan.

Background:
The Office of Governmental Relations (OGR) has developed Los Angeles Unified’s California Education Policy Agenda to establish a comprehensive, unified set of State policy and funding priorities for the incoming Governor’s Administration and State Superintendent of Public Instruction. The Policy Agenda reflects the District’s assessment of key State-level education policy and funding opportunities to advance the educational success, well-being, and long-term outcomes of Los Angeles Unified students and families.

The development of the California Education Policy Agenda provides an opportunity for the District to proactively communicate its priorities to the next Governor and newly elected State officials and other policymakers and establish a multi-year framework for coordinated advocacy on issues of importance to Los Angeles Unified. The priorities outlined in the Policy Agenda were developed in consultation with District divisions and subject matter experts and are aligned with the goals, strategies, and initiatives of the District’s 2026-30 Strategic Plan.
