Approve the renewal petition for Ánimo James B. Taylor Charter Middle (“Charter School”), a Start-Up Independent charter school, with a benchmark in the area of academics (Math for the African American/Black student group), located in Board District 7 and Region South, for a term of five (5) years, beginning July 1, 2027, until June 30, 2032, to serve up to 525 students in grades 6-8 in each year of the charter term. The recommendation for approval is based on the information set forth in the attached Staff Assessment and Recommendation Report.

Ánimo James B. Taylor Charter Middle is a 6-8 middle school currently serving 447 students on a private facility at 810 E. 111th Pl., Los Angeles, CA, 90059 in Board District 7 and Region South. Ánimo James B. Taylor Charter Middle was originally approved by the LAUSD Board of Education on January 4, 2011. On December 8, 2020, the charter school was renewed for a five-year term to serve 525 students in grades 6-8. Pursuant to Education Code section 47607.4, all charter schools whose term expires on or between January 1, 2022, and June 30, 2025, inclusive, shall have their term extended by two years, and all charter schools whose term expires on or between January 1, 2024, and June 30, 2027, inclusive...
