Action Proposed:
Approve the renewal petition for Synergy Quantum Academy (“Charter School”), a Start-Up Independent charter school, with a benchmark in the area of academics (English Learner Progress Indicator), located in Board District 7 and Region East, for a term of five (5) years, beginning July 1, 2027, until June 30, 2032, to serve up to 583 students in grades 9-12 in each year of the charter term. The recommendation for approval is based on the information set forth in the attached Staff Assessment and Recommendation Report.

Synergy Quantum Academy is a 9-12 school currently serving 569 students on a District site, Dr. Maya Angelou Community High School, through Public School Choice at 300 E. 53rd Street, Los Angeles, CA, 90011 in Board District 7 and Region East. Synergy Quantum Academy was originally approved by the LAUSD Board of Education on February 1, 2011. On November 24, 2020, the charter school was renewed for a five-year term to serve 583 students in grades 9-12. Pursuant to Education Code section 47607.4, all charter schools whose term expires on or between January 1, 2022, and June 30, 2025, inclusive, shall have their term extended by two years, and all charter schools whose term expires on or between January 1, 2024, and June 30, 2027, inclusive, shall have their term extended by one ad...
