Background:
High Tech LA is a 9-12 school currently serving 351 students on the Lake Balboa Education Complex at 17111 Victory Blvd., Van Nuys, CA, 91406 in Board District 3 and Region North. High Tech LA was originally approved by the LAUSD Board of Education on March 11, 2003, as a start-up affiliated charter school. The charter was renewed by the Board of Education on April 8, 2008, as a conversion independent charter school. Most recently, on December 5, 2017, the charter school was renewed for a five-year term to serve up to 415 students in grades 9-12. Pursuant to Education Code section 47607.4, all charter schools whose term expires on or between January 1, 2022, and June 30, 2025, inclusive, shall have their term extended by two years, and all charter schools whose term expires on or between January 1, 2024, and June 30, 2027, inclusive, shall have their term extended by one additional year. Thus, by operation of law, the charter term for High Tech LA expires June 30, 2026.
