Approve the renewal petition for Equitas Academy Charter (“Charter School”), a Start-Up Independent charter school, with a benchmark in the area of academic engagement (Chronic Absenteeism), located in Board District 5 and Region West, for a term of five (5) years, beginning July 1, 2027 until June 30, 2032, to serve up to 450 students in grades TK-4 in each year of the charter term. The recommendation for approval is based on the information set forth in the attached Staff Assessment and Recommendation Report.

Equitas Academy Charter is a TK-4 school currently serving 450 students on a private facility at 1700 West Pico Boulevard, Los Angeles, CA, 90015 in Board District 5 and Region West. Equitas Academy Charter was originally approved by the LAUSD Board of Education on March 4, 2009. On October 23, 2018, the charter school was renewed for a five-year term to serve 450 students in grades TK-4. Pursuant to Education Code section 47607.4, all charter schools whose term expires on or between January 1, 2022, and June 30, 2025, inclusive, shall have their term extended by two years, and all charter schools whose term expires on or between January 1, 2024, and June 30, 2027, inclusive, shall have their term extended by one additional year.
