Approve the renewal petition for WISH Community (“Charter School”), a Start-Up Independent charter school, located in Board District 4 and Region West, for a term of six (6) years, beginning July 1, 2027, until June 30, 2033, to serve up to 847 students in grades TK-8 in each year of the charter term. The recommendation for approval is based on the information set forth in the attached Staff Assessment and Recommendation Report.

Background:
WISH Community is a TK-8 school currently serving 847 students on two District sites (Orville Wright Engineering and Design Magnet Campus and Westchester Enriched Sciences Magnets), as co-locations through Proposition 39, at 6550 West 80th Street, CA, 90045, and 7400 West Manchester Avenue, Los Angeles, CA, 90045, respectively, in Board District 4 and Region West. WISH Community was originally approved by the LAUSD Board of Education on November 12, 2013. On October 23, 2018, the charter school was renewed for a five-year term to serve 744 students in grades TK-8. Pursuant to Education Code section 47607.4, all charter schools whose term expires on or between January 1, 2022, and June 30, 2025, inclusive, shall have their term extended by two years, and all charter schools whose term expires on or between January 1, 2024, and June 30, 2027, inclusive, shall have their term extended by one additional year.
