Approve the renewal petition for Ánimo Jackie Robinson High (“Charter School”), a Start-Up Independent charter school, located in Board District 5 and Region East, for a term of five (5) years, beginning July 1, 2027, until June 30, 2032, to serve up to 650 students in grades 9-12 in each year of the charter term. The recommendation for approval is based on the information set forth in the attached Staff Assessment and Recommendation Report.

Background:
Ánimo Jackie Robinson High is a 9-12 school currently serving 607 students on a District site (William Jefferson Clinton Middle School) through Proposition 39 at 3500 S. Hill St., Los Angeles, CA, 90007, in Board District 5 and Region East. Ánimo Jackie Robinson High was originally approved by the LAUSD Board of Education on March 7, 2006. On November 24, 2020, the charter school was renewed for a five-year term to serve 600 students in grades 9-12. Pursuant to Education Code section 47607.4, all charter schools whose term expires on or between January 1, 2022, and June 30, 2025, inclusive, shall have their term extended by two years, and all charter schools whose term expires on or between January 1, 2024, and June 30, 2027, inclusive, shall have their term extended by one additional year. Thus, by operation of law, the charter term for Ánimo Jackie Robinson High expires June 30, 2027.
