Approve the renewal petition for Granada Hills Charter (“Charter School”), a Conversion Independent charter school, located in Board District 3 and Region North, for a term of seven (7) years, beginning July 1, 2027, until June 30, 2034, to serve up to 6,925 students in grades TK-12 in each year of the charter term. The recommendation for approval is based on the information set forth in the attached Staff Assessment and Recommendation Report.

Background:
Granada Hills Charter is a TK-12 span school currently serving 6,139 students on two sites: a District facility located at 10535 Zelzah Ave., Granada Hills, CA, 91344, through a Sole Occupant Agreement, and a private facility located at 17081 Devonshire St., Northridge, CA 91325, in Board District 3 and Region North. Granada Hills Charter was originally approved by the LAUSD Board of Education on April 22, 2003. On September 25, 2018, the charter school was renewed for a five-year term to serve 6,925 students in grades TK-12. Pursuant to Education Code section 47607.4, all charter schools whose term expires on or between January 1, 2022, and June 30, 2025, inclusive, shall have their term extended by two years, and all charter schools whose term expires on or between January 1, 2024, and June 30, 2027, inclusive, shall have their term extended by one additional year.
